Have you tried Skitch?

Have you tried Skitch?
It's an app that works with Evernote.

When I am out shopping I can never remember size dimensions or have it written down.  I am a visual person.

I am currently on the hunt for some new pillow covers for my sofa.
So I take a photo with Skitch and label the size and save to my Evernote notebook.

Also looking for a mirror to go over mantle.

Try it out!  Watch the video.

Game Day Quilt

For my next quilt I want to do a quilt that I can take to my son's football games this fall.

I have the hardest time trying to make a decision.
The school colors are red and black.

Help me out ...which should I do?

#1 This one and replace the monogram with the school monogram?

#2 and replace the name with the School Name and the flowers and a football helmet or school mascot appliqué.

#4 a standard 9 patch - use red and white squares with a cute black border and binding

Flag Quilt

The Inspiration

I decided to go with 16 inch squares and the actual flags were 15 X 12.5
All my flags were going to be American flags and not a mix.
She is finally finished.

NO more Ants

The ants were invading my hummingbird feeder!

So I did a little research and found that I needed to add an ant moat.  The ants crawl up the pole but can't get to the feeder because there trapped by the water!  GENIUS.

A little craftiness and a hot glue gun does the trick.

Use an aerosol can lid.  Drill a little hole and take some wire or a coat hanger.  Use the hot glue to attach the wire and close up the hole so the water does not drip out.

Now the hummingbirds don't have to share with the ants only the bees.

Painting the Stair handrails

Don't you just love that 80's orangeee oak color?

Well that's what I had on the stair handrails. And since the handrail is open and runs up thru the center of our house and all across the cat walk I got to look at it every day. I had trouble deciding whether to paint it white or black.

Some Inspiration:

New Kitchen Sink and backsplash

The kitchen ....
I wish I could afford to update it all at one time but unfortunately pieces get updated as they need.

So the before when we bought the house 7 years ago.

I really like the look of white cabinets but I can't get the courage to paint.  So working with what we have.

The kitchen sink was your plain builder grade stainless steel.  The problem that we had was the area between the back of the sink and the laminate always had water all the time and no matter how much I cleaned or caulked it was always dirty looking.  Eventually it had to be fixed.

I really wanted to keep the look of white countertops but didn't want to spend the $$ for marble and didn't like the granite look.  So keeping the white laminate for now.  The problem is behind the sink.

My solution was a farm sink...I can put in the place of the existing sink and it will go all the way to the wall eliminating that caulk area while fixing the problem.

So a little inspiration:

And what I have now.

The sink and faucet are from Ikea and the subway tile backsplash from the local home improvement big box store.
