Decorating with Plates

After I painted my mirror it didn't quite fill the wall. The poor mirror was very lonely.

Sounds like a good excuse to go shopping....
So the Dining Room drapes area a pink/green toile that I made a while back and wanted to stick with those colors.  Decided I needed to check out the new Home Goods in Charlotte and I found these CUTE plates.  The Easter colors just happen to match what I was looking for.

Sorry I can't get a good shot of the entire wall.  I need a different lens for my camera.  So I took some from different angles so you can get the idea.

Time to organize

I wish I had this pantry but I don't but it did inspire me to clean mine out.

image from http://fortheloveofahouse.blogspot.com/search?q=pantry

The process begins....drag it all out and clean first.

Then organize it on the way back in....and throw out things that haven't been used since we moved into this house (5 years ago).

Well now I feel better and organized.  I also attacked my spice cabinet.  It is organized but not pretty yet.  Looking for something 'to make me happy' there before I post pics.

Hoping Spring is here!  That would answer why I am in the mood to organize everything.

Party Bokeh Style

Thanks to Tracy at Tracy's Trinkets and Treasures I am learning what bokeh photography is and how to get it.

I accomplished my Bokeh using existing pictures and Picasa.  Next I want to try with the camera settings.

Happy Valentine's Day

Robins Egg Blue

Found a can of paint last week at Lowes on the sale table and loved the color.  It looks like Robin eggs.

So I tried a couple of painting projects.

I had these clocks which previously had roosters painted on them.  I used some graphics from http://graphicsfairy.blogspot.com/ .  I still would like to add some flourishes around the edges but haven't found anything yet.

I had this metal sign in my kitchen but it was red.

Then I was inspired at The Inspired Nest with her Chippy Toolbox and had to copy that idea since I had one of those toolboxes in my garage.  Also used graphics from The Graphics Fairy for the side.

On a side note look what Mr. WMMH gave me for Valentine's Day!

Guess where I went today?

1st hint:  breakfast for champions!

2nd hint:  the smell of cinnamon rolls and shopping carts that make you feel like your ice skating trying to make them roll straight.

The Mission:  Organization

To organize the place where everybody drops their backpacks, purses, shoes etc when they come in the house.  Our spot is at the back door between the kitchen and family room. I really don't have a good spot or a cute spot to put a bench.

So I decided to add some coat hooks and a basket for the shoes.

Mission accomplished!

It was a successful trip to Ikea and I also picked up dinner -- Swedish Meatballs, Mashed potatoes and gravy.

Painting the furniture ~ reveal

This was my great-grandmothers.  I hope she likes the new look!

Here is the after updated look!  Check out those great legs.

Added some new eye candy door knobs.  I stood in Hobby Lobby today for 30 minutes trying to figure out which one to go with.

Not totally dry yet so left the door open.

Also painted this mirror that I had.  Need some pretty plates to go around it.
~See my pretty curtains in the reflection?
