Painting the furniture

The sewing machine is put away and now I have started some small painting projects.

It's too cold in the garage...so I have been painting in my foyer because it is big and open and has great light.  Also it's sort of out of the way.  We don't use the front door much.

I had a couple of these cheap little tables to try out first.  First tried spray paint.  Didn't like so well and I didn't sand and prime properly before starting.  So I brush painted and added some poly.

Current projects are an old mirror and little table that I have.  The mirror belongs in the dining room.  My table is cherry and I have a sideboard and china cabinet (being stored because of no room) in there now.

If these two paint jobs turn out OK I am thinking of painting the sideboard.  It was my great-grandmothers.  I hope painting it is not a disgrace but it is looking kind of tired and painting may bring it back to life.  I like the mix of darkwook with white painted pieces.

What does everyone think?
Paint or not?

  1. If you don't paint you can try "restore a finish" for wood furniture. You can get it at Lowe's. It refreshes wood furniture. Can't wait to see what you do! :)
